Trayser 2.0 or Zoomo Zero — which should a London delivery rider rent?
The Trayser 2.0 if the shift is long or the maintenance is the thing that keeps costing you days: 1,056 Wh against the 628 Wh Zoomo publishes for the Zero, a Gates carbon belt against a drive type Zoomo does not publish, hydraulic discs against brakes Zoomo does not publish. £55 a week from Otto Scooter, £49 for Uber Eats and Deliveroo riders, £200 refundable deposit, no starter fee.
The Zoomo Zero if you want the cheapest published week — Zoomo lists £39/week on its 8-week Boost plan — or if you need a network rather than a workshop: Zoomo publishes stores in London, Manchester and Birmingham, and plans in France and Spain. Those are real advantages and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

What the battery gap actually buys
1,056 Wh against 628 Wh is 68% more stored energy. Using the Trayser's own published numbers — 1,056 Wh for 50–60 miles, so about 18–21 Wh per mile — a 628 Wh pack covers roughly 30–35 miles at the same consumption. Zoomo's own 80 km rating implies a gentler 12.6 Wh per mile, which is a different assumption rather than a different battery. That is exactly why we argue in watt-hours: the pack size is the one number nobody can re-test into a better figure.
Where Zoomo is genuinely the better answer
- Cities. Zoomo publishes stores in Manchester and Birmingham as well as two in London, and lists plans across the UK, France and Spain. Otto Scooter rents in London, from one workshop. If you might move, that is a real reason to pick them.
- Cover. Zoomo publishes Theft and Damage Cover at £10/week, which also takes its deposit to £0. The Trayser is an EAPC — a bicycle in law — so it is not insured the way a moped is, and we will not dress a deposit up as cover.
- The cheapest week. £39 on an 8-week Boost plan is less than £55, and if your shifts are short the extra 428 Wh is capacity you are paying for and not using.
- Spare packs. An extra battery at £15/week at select locations suits riders who would rather carry a second pack than ride back to a workshop.
The open question on the Zoomo 1
Zoomo's London plans page lists a plan named “Zoomo 1” at £55/week, marked “NEW BIKE”, with “Range 55/miles” and no published battery capacity. Zoomo's global Zoomo 1 page publishes “Dual 48V, 700 Wh”, 120–140 km, a single-speed chain and hydraulic disc brakes, and Zoomo's own UK line-up pages currently name only the Zero and the Sport. If the twin-pack Zoomo 1 rents in London, its combined capacity is larger than the Trayser's. We would rather flag that here than be corrected by a rider who read their site too.
What is in each week
Otto Scooter's week on a Trayser covers the bike, the 1,056 Wh battery, a charger, a security lock and chain, free maintenance and free battery swaps at Hammersmith, with a 4-week minimum and no notice period afterwards. Zoomo's published inclusions on all three London plans are the e-bike, "up to 8hr battery", regular maintenance, the MyZoomo app, unlimited miles, a wheel lock, anti-theft GPS, a phone holder and live customer support.
What you are actually renting
Ride both if you can. Then rent the one that finishes the shift.
Otto Scooter is the only place to rent a Trayser 2.0. Collection, fitting, servicing and the free battery swaps all happen at the Hammersmith workshop.
